Queen City: part 1

Charlotte, North Carolina is a city full of vibrant energized southern hospitality. A city full of hard working people who also love to play hard after a long week of steady grinding (focused accomplished work day/week/month/etc…) I recently challenged the ladies of Honeywell Production to get out and about to meet, mingle, and sight see with who and what the City of Charlotte has to offer; and also what we have to offer the city in return. For the next two months the ladies will provide pictures and information of the people and sites of Charlotte with some form of substance/story behind them. Having lived in other major cities such as Los Angele's, New York, New York and Washington D.C., we must say that the City of Charlotte does a fine job holding on and keeping up with providing diverse attraction sites, activities and community gatherings for the people of Charlotte and surrounding areas.

We decided to begin this series of “getting to know Charlotte” over the Labor Day weekend and a few of the ladies of Honeywell Productions hit the streets and broke out the cameras. On day one we met Lynn, a mother who lost her son two years ago in a tragic accident; every Friday Lynn hosts a happy hour full of food and drinks to remember and honor her son and those who’ve also lost loved ones for family and friends to celebrate the life that was. For more information on how to take part in Lynn’s Friday Happy Hour please send an email to Iceycyllah@gmail.com  subject title: Lynn’s Friday HH

On day two the ladies teamed up with Three M Entertainment, a local entertainment company based in Charlotte, NC that provide positive outlets and entertainment for local youth and teens along with club promoting, party promoting, producing concerts, and hosting fabulous cookouts to name a few things. The founder and CEO of Three M Entertainments, Jonathan Boddie, unfortunately passed away two months ago passing on the title of CEO to his best friend and mentor Frank Hampton III; and in his honor  this particular event was their first annual themed cookout titled: “End of Summer Hustle Hard Cookout.”  To contact Three M Entertainment please send emails to CheeCheeHampton@yahoo.com

*The ladies attended a Virgo birthday bash following the cookout also thrown by Three M Entertainment.

Day three was dedicated to the high school football frenzy lovers in us all, it was a day for the ladies to reminisce on their high school days of Friday Night Football accompanied with that extra entertainment from the school band, cheerleaders and dance drill teams. For months the buzz around high school football has filled the air and it’s only right that we high light these promising teens and the football frenzy surrounding them.(WHO KNEW HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYED SUCH A MAJOR ROLE THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITIES OF CHARLOTTE, NC) (THE LADIES OF HONEYWELL KNEW THAT’S WHO!!!!!)  The ladies attended the Harding University High School (RAMS) vs. West Charlotte High School (LIONS) football game; because they are known for their intense rivalry and emotionally involved parents the ladies had to see what the fuss really is all about.

But of course they didn't capture photo's of the football teams...LOL

Stay tuned for part II where we'll focus more on the nightlife of Charlotte with guest blogs from the ladies of Honeywell Productions New York City headquarters.

Co- Wash Hair Blowout

When considering any type of hairstyle one must take precautions by knowing there own type of hair and how it responds to various circumstances such as heat and chemicals.
Personally, when I am in search of a new hairstyle I take into consideration the state in which my hair is in at that time. When specifically wanting a natural hair blow out I make sure my hair is:
  • not damaged/ or dried out
  • all split ends are trimmed
  • hair is well moisturized and conditioned

If the above check list pans out I then collect the following products and tools to begin my blowout process.
  • conditioner (WEN  or Garnier Fructis - both products amazing on all hair)
  • hot oil
  • blow dryer with concentrator
  • round brush
  • butterfly clips/ hair clips

I begin my process by co-washing my hair ( wash hair as you normally would using conditioner only)
  1. After hair is freshly washed,
  2. Apply hot oil (hair oil heated under HOT water) place shower cap over allow to sit 10-15mins and rinse
  3. Begin sectioning the hair into 4 sections securing hair with clips on top
  4. Once hair is sectioned begin de-tangling hair(comb hair from ends and work up to the roots) by sections starting with the the two back sections. ( If hair is more coarse sub-section the four sections into smaller parts)
  5. Apply a heat protect-ant to avoid extreme heat damage ( I personally use grape-seed oil because it withstands high heat/temps without burning
  6. Prep blow dryer by placing the concentrator(causes heat to flow in a specific intense direction) on the end
  7. Begin blowing out each section starting at the root and working down to the ends working the blow dryer and round brush in sync as your blow drying downwards along the shafts of the hair.(wrapping the hair on the round brush at the root, stroking the brush in a circular motion that rolls backwards towards you)
  8.   One section at a time creating smaller sections within the section for an easier blow out( I use medium heat with medium intensity) for more coarse hair I recommend high heat with a low to medium intensity
  9. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all sections are completely blown out
  10. Apply a lite moisturizer, oil, or cream that will not weigh the hair down to enjoy a bouncier flow of hair
BE SURE NOT TO GO OVER ANY ONE SECTION MORE THAN THREE TIMES...BECAUSE TOO MUCH HEAT =DRY HAIR= BREAKAGE
Definition of co-washing-Washing hair as you would normally minus the shampoo

Creative Loafing NC: Best of Charlotte After Dark

The best place open after 2 am was awarded by CLCLT.COM to Amelie's French Bakery (open 24/7) serving things like French press coffee, chocolate croissants, tasty soups, sandwiches and more.
Amelie's is a hot-spot for more than just a sweet tooth fixing it's also a place for great socializing and networking (no matter what time you find yourself there).

These are a few more restaurants that are open after 2 am which did not make CLCLT'S top after hour places to dine but were highly recommended by a few natives of Charlotte who know some of Charlotte's best kept secrets.
  • Champs Americana
  • Jillian's
  • Athens (Greek food of course)
  • Cosmo's cafe

But I want to hear from you Charlotte;
  • What are some of Charlotte's best-kept secrets after dark (and no I-HOP and the WAFFLE HOUSE doesn't count.)
  • If there aren't any after hour eating spots, do you feel more should be adopted in Charlotte that are easily accessible to those in need of "feeding there alcohol” after a night of clubbing or those in need to feed just another late night hunger attack.
  • What are some restaurants you'd like to see become after hour late nightspots as the greater Charlotte's nightlife expands?

Fashion Def.

The following terms and definitions are by no means written in stone or are definitions used by "all " who consider themselves in the fashion industry or connected to the fashion industry. These are a few words we decided to begin with to create the ultimate " Fashion Dictionary" using definitions from Cambridge (unanimous decision to use as a source); and of course we'd love some input no matter the definition or word "coined" by others or simply just you. We would even love feedback on terms you feel should be banned or
have a change in meaning for all to see.

The girl who silenced the world for 5 minutes

It's breathtaking and heartfelt to see  youth so in-tune with the world around them and aware of the dangers and threats that so plague the world around us. Here stands a girl under the age of 18 highly concerned and aware of a global issue so many adults choose to ignore or are truly unaware. Not only does she stand up but she speaks up about the abuse and disservice we so readily provide to continuously damage the earth as we know it. This is an issue that affects us all; even those of us in the fashion industry.

“The fashion system must adapt to the reality that there is no strong difference between summer and winter any more… You can’t have everyone showing four times a year to present the same thing. People are not prepared to invest in these clothes that, from one season to the other, use the same fabrics at the same weight.”

“The whole fashion system will have to change,” Beppe Modenese, founder of Milan Fashion Week, told The New York Times last week.

Please let's strive to make a change in the way we live and treat the earth, many people feel as though one voice alone isn't enough to make a difference but it sure is a start and definitely better than doing nothing.
Do you ever wonder or ask yourself, "what can I do to speak up and invoke change?" If you haven't well you will after hearing the above video of a powerful voice from such a young person.

Please let us know what you're doing to provide a better world or things that can be done locally for others to begin the process of becoming involved in making a change and providing a more hopeful tomorrow.

What are some of your non profit fundraising ideas?
